From my father's legacy to our We make our products as natural as possible

Modify Thrift is more than a store. It's a bridge between generations, a testament to immigrant resilience, and a model for community-centered business.

"I inherited more than a shop. I inherited my father's belief that business could be a force for community good."

My father came to America with two suitcases and a dream. He opened a small clothing shop in NYC because he believed every woman deserved to feel beautiful — regardless of her budget. For over a decade, his shop was a neighborhood fixture.

When he passed the keys to me, I knew I had to honor his legacy while building something new. As a first-generation daughter, I understood the unique pressures we carry — the desire to make our parents proud, to build wealth for our families, to stay connected to our values while navigating a new world.

Modify was born from that tension. We're a modest fashion thrift store because I believe clothing should respect your values while celebrating your style. We're preloved-first because sustainable fashion shouldn't be a luxury. We're community-centered because that's how my father taught me to do business.

From Harlem to every borough, I'm creating modest fashion thrift stores run by asylees and immigrants — turning cultural pride and sustainability into pathways for belonging across New York City. Your donations and purchases help us build toward a future where we can employ refugees and asylum seekers, and contribute to environmental and economic justice projects.

WHAT GUIDES US

Our Values

Community First

Every decision we make centers our community. From supporting local women to partnering with neighborhood organizations.

Faithfully Sustainable

Circular fashion isn't just good for the planet — it's aligned with our values of intentional living and stewardship.

Immigrant-Led

We build systems so other immigrant-owned businesses can scale. Our success is community success.

Modest & Modern

Fashion that honors your values without compromising your style. Elevated, accessible, and always intentional.

Building toward belonging

We envision a future where immigrant-run thrift stores exist in every borough — creating jobs for asylees and refugees, building wealth in our communities, and proving that sustainable fashion can be a pathway to belonging.

Your support — whether shopping, donating, or consigning — helps us move closer to that vision. A percentage of our proceeds will go toward environmental and economic justice projects because we believe in building a better world, one beautiful piece at a time.
